The Gift That Keeps on Giving: Here’s Why HVAC Membership is a Gift to You and Your Wallet

It may be the season to buy gifts for others, but giving yourself, your home and your wallet the gift of an HVAC membership is a gift that’s always in season! From saving money to getting priority service, the benefits of an HVAC membership are truly magical. The HVAC experts at Clay’s Climate Control are here with four reasons of why an HVAC Membership is the gift that will continue to give and give.

Enjoy Peace and Joy All Year Long

HVAC services and purchases, whether they’re expected or emergencies, can typically be stressful. When you purchase an HVAC membership, you’ll be purchasing peace of mind thanks to all of its benefits. Not only will an HVAC membership save you money on a variety of HVAC-related products and services, but it will also help melt away the scheduling, maintaining and purchasing stresses that can typically come with HVAC issues.

Shovel In the Savings on Bills, Services and Parts

Everyone loves saving money, and when you invest in an HVAC membership, you’ll save money in many different ways. For example, it can help you save money on your utility bills because your HVAC equipment will be well-maintained, and therefore, more efficient. Although not all membership plans offer the same benefits, the best ones will also provide you with reduced service charges during normal hours, overtime hours and holidays—they’ll also offer a price reduction on all parts and labor!

Jump the Line and Receive Priority Service

Food shopping lines, holiday shopping lines, HVAC service waitlist lines—no one likes waiting in line, especially when an HVAC system needs assistance ASAP! With an HVAC membership, you’ll get priority service on all of your HVAC needs. Whether it’s summer and you need your air conditioning fixed ASAP, or it’s winter and you need your heating system replaced before a big snowstorm, an HVAC membership will eliminate the waitlist line.

Feel Merry and Bright By Filling Your Wallet With Clay’s Cash

When you purchase an HVAC membership, it should always come with a perk that lets you know your HVAC company appreciates your membership. At Clay’s Climate Control, our 3C Maintenance Plan features a perk that pays you back—literally! Every time you renew your membership with us, you’ll get $50 in Clay’s Cash—this means we give you money (which can accumulate over the years) to put towards equipment replacement or indoor quality products. It’s just one way we like to say “thank you” to our amazing 3C members.

Whether your current HVAC membership isn’t everything you want it to be or you’re ready to commit to a membership for the first time, the 3C Club is the one you’ll want to join! To learn more or to enroll, contact us today!

Ask the Expert: How can I be sure my furnace isn’t leaking out carbon monoxide?

Carbon Monoxide LeakThis is a great question, and one that requires the attention of homeowners as soon as the temperature outside drops low enough that the furnace needs to be turned on. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a furnace can pose a threat every winter. When furnaces are not properly maintained by an HVAC professional every year, there may be issues with the unit that can lead to the leaking of carbon monoxide—an invisible, odorless gas that is emitted from a damaged furnace and kills hundreds of people every year, while also making thousands sick.

Schedule Furnace Maintenance

To be sure that your furnace is working properly and is not emitting carbon monoxide, the first step is to schedule a furnace maintenance appointment with a heating expert. Once your furnace has been maintained, the next step it to make sure that you 1) have carbon monoxide detectors installed in your home, and 2) regularly maintain these to make sure that they are functioning properly.

Save Up to 10% a Year on Your Heating Bill

Not only will annually maintaining your furnace help you prevent a dangerous carbon monoxide leakage, but you will also enjoy the added bonus of saving up to 10% a year in your heating bill! This is because a well-maintained furnace will run more efficiently and effectively, so it won’t waste energy heating your home.

Being Proactive

Now, just because you are staying on top of your furnace’s maintenance every year does not mean that there are not other proactive steps you can take in between the yearly checkups! In addition to scheduling annual maintenance, you can also do the following:

  • Regularly replace your furnace’s filter.
  • Keep the fan compartment door tightly closed; this will prevent it from having to work overtime.
  • Look for burned or damaged wiring; using a flashlight will make this easier to see!
  • Check to see if the flue of your furnace is well-connected to the masonry or metal flue; this will keep carbon monoxide from escaping if there is a leak present.

Your furnace is there to make your home warm and cozy in the winter, not dangerous, and here at Clay’s Climate Control, we do everything we can to make sure your HVAC equipment can be easily and properly maintained—that is why we offer our 3C Maintenance Plan! If you live in Linwood, Atlantic County, or Northern Cape May County, NJ, contact the experts at Clay’s today to schedule your furnace appointment!

Five Spring Maintenance Tips for Your HVAC System

Spring is in the air, and with the hot weather on its way in, you’ll be cranking up your air conditioning system in no time! Don’t get caught unprepared – start on your spring maintenance early by following these tips:

Check Refrigerant Level
Your cooling system will not run efficiently if it does not have the correct amount of refrigerant. The additional strain on your air conditioner will cause it to wear out more quickly. This will cause it to break down more often, leading to expensive repairs! It will also increase your energy costs.

Replace Air Filters
Air filters become dirty and clogged if they aren’t changed on a regular basis. Dirty filters lower both the energy efficiency of your HVAC system and the air quality in your house. With allergy season approaching, it’s critical to change your air filters when you start using your air conditioner!

Clean Your Coils
Before you start your air conditioner, make sure the evaporator coils and condenser coils have been cleaned. This is especially important if your outdoor unit wasn’t covered during the winter. Dirt and dust buildup on the coils can inhibit your cooling system’s airflow and reduce its performance. Ensure that all leaves and other debris around your outdoor unit are cleared out.

Clean and Inspect Your Ductwork
Your HVAC system’s ductwork should be cleaned and inspected before spring. If you have leaks in your air ducts, your cooling system will be less energy efficient.

Schedule an Air Conditioning Tune-up
You can lower your cooling costs by up to 15% by scheduling routine maintenance on your HVAC system! A tune-up can save you money by catching problems early, before more expensive repairs are needed. It will also ensure that your air conditioner works when you need it most.

Schedule an appointment early with Clay’s Climate Control to prevent the inconvenience of an air conditioning breakdown during the summer heat!

The Importance of Planned HVAC Maintenance

With the fall and winter chill quickly approaching we strongly advise having professional maintenance done to your HVAC system, if you haven’t already done so this year.

It’s important to safeguard that your air conditioner is prepared for long hibernation as well as waking up your heating system without any problems. The last thing you want is to have your heating system break down in the middle of winter; and although breakdowns can’t always be prevented, it’s still important that you don’t give up on doing all that can be done to take the precautionary steps to try and avoid it.

Having that said, you should have your heater checked at least once a year. Continual HVAC maintenance is similar to getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist, as it doesn’t need to be done before or after you eat, just every six months to a year.

Another way to think about it is getting your car’s oil changed. This task must be done to keep the engine running at peak performance but it doesn’t need to be done before a long road trip, for example; every 3,000-5,000 miles is suggested.

Okay, back to HVAC! With the benefits of planned maintenance noted below, we hope to hear from you with any questions and/or planned maintenance requests that you might have. It’s always our pleasure to keep you well informed on all things HVAC related.

  • Increased efficiency: Having a routine HVAC checkup will help to better ensure that your energy bills are low and that your system is working as efficiently as possible.
  • Improved indoor comfort: There’s another important advantage of maintaining your furnace… Your comfort! A well-maintained furnace will deliver optimal performance throughout the colder months, which means you can expect to stay warm all winter long with far less of a chance of encountering any furnace problems. Additionally, a well-maintained furnace may also help to improve indoor air quality and humidity levels for added comfort.
  • Consider the age of your unit: No HVAC system is meant to last forever; and the older the system, the less efficient it is. If it’s time to purchase a new system, give us a call and we can help you make an informed decision and purchase a system that’s designed to be long-lasting.
  • Get a professional inspection: The team here at Clay’s Climate Control will help to make sure that your system is working as it should. Also, we will perform a full inspection to check all elements of your system and fix any issues that arise.

HVAC Check-List for Spring

Spring is finally here, which means the weather is starting to get warmer! While that doesn’t mean it’s time to crank up your air conditioning full blast just yet, it does mean that you should take some time to make sure your unit is in good working condition and is prepared for the warmer weather ahead.  A properly maintained HVAC system is one that’s going to last for a long time, so make sure you’re prepping your unit for the upcoming seasons.

Spring is the time of year when you don’t necessarily need to use your air conditioning or heating, which makes it the perfect time to do a little maintenance to make sure it’s running properly. Here at Clay’s Climate Control, one of our professional HVAC technicians will inspect and clean the wiring of your unit and much more. We’ve outlined a full spring HVAC checklist for homeowners in our area of New Jersey:

  • Check the functionality of all HVAC units. Test out all of your HVAC system’s units by turning them on to make sure they’re working properly. If your system isn’t cooling your home to the temperature you set, then this could be an issue with your thermostat or your HVAC system in general. If you need help, you can always give us a call!
  • Remove any debris surrounding the unit. Your HVAC technician will inspect your outdoor unit, removing any debris such as pollen, twigs, and leaves. Too much debris surrounding the unit could prevent your system from operating properly, so it’s important to keep it clean for maximum efficiency. One of our technicians will also confirm that the outdoor unit starts, runs and shuts off correctly.
  • Replace your air filters. When your air filters are dirty, it slows down the process of cooling your home and can also negatively affect your home’s indoor air quality. You should typically change your air filters once a month if they look dirty or brown.
  • Make an appointment with Clay’s Climate Control! We will work to tighten your electrical wiring, replace your filters, and check safety controls. We will also check your refrigerant levels to make sure that your HVAC system can properly cool your home.

We are proud to serve the local residents of New Jersey as the trusted experts in all things HVAC! Contact us today to learn more about our services, or to schedule a spring HVAC maintenance checkup.

The Importance of HVAC Maintenance

It’s officially summer, which means that the majority of homes in our area will be using their air conditioning on full blast for the next few months ahead. In a hot and humid climate like ours, not to mention beaches filled with vacation homes and rental properties, it is more important than ever to ensure that your air conditioning system will be able to carry you through the hottest months of the year.

One of the best ways you can make sure that your AC is prepared is through annual HVAC maintenance. If you haven’t had your system cleaned, inspected, and had necessary repairs made this year, now is the time! Here are just a few of the reasons why HVAC maintenance is so important.

System Efficacy and efficiency: One of the most important reasons to have your HVAC system properly maintained is to ensure that your air conditioning will run at maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Simple things like cleaning or changing air filters, cleaning air ducts, and performing basic repairs can go a long way to keep your system running at peak performance and increase its lifespan.

Save Money: By keeping your system running at maximum efficiency, you’ll be saving a lot of money in the long run. Not only is an efficient system able to keep your home cool using less power and strength, lowering energy bills, but performing annual maintenance will also help to ensure that you won’t need to replace your HVAC system as quickly, and you’ll save money in major repairs over time by catching small issues as they arise and addressing them accordingly.

Avoid Emergencies: No one wants to deal with their air conditioning suddenly giving out on one of the hottest days of summer! It may seem unlikely, but we see it all of the time, and with summer being one of our busiest seasons of the year, it can be tough to deal with these kinds of emergencies immediately, which means that you and your family may be left to sweat it out for hours. The best way to avoid this type of debacle is through regular maintenance of your air conditioning system, where a professional can ensure that your system will be able to make it through the summer.

Happy Vacationers: If you do rent your property out during the summer, it’s vitally important that your vacationers have a pleasant experience in your home to ensure they return summer after summer. A huge component of their stay will be their comfort in your house, which means that keeping your air conditioning in good working order is key. Even if it will just be you and your family during the summer months in your home, there’s no excuse to be uncomfortable as the temperatures continue to rise!

Warranty: If you have a new HVAC system, it’s important to be aware of the system’s warranty. HVAC manufacturers’ require annual maintenance by a licensed professional to keep the warranty of the system valid. If you miss an annual check-up for your system and it breaks, there’s a chance it will no longer be covered under warranty, so be sure to keep up to date on your HVAC check-ups!

Regular HVAC maintenance is an important part of caring for your air conditioning system and keeping it in tiptop shape. If you have any concerns about your air conditioning or have yet to schedule your system’s annual maintenance, give us a call at (609) 653-2295 or click here to visit our website.
